We
are passionate about design and the clients we work
for. Our approach to design and business reflects our
personal values and has since we began in 1996 when
principal designer Rob Wilkes left a comfortable trade
job to start big sky design with only
a social justice NGO and an up-and-coming theatre company
for clients.
Those
two groups, Kawartha World Issues Centre (KWIC) and
the 4th Line Theatre are still going strong and are
still big sky clients. In the meantime, many arts and
social change organizations have come to big
sky design including the Westben Arts Festival Theatre, Peterborough
New Dance, Artspace, the Peterborough Green Party, Spirit
Walks native tourism group and the Lindsay Concert Foundation, to name only a few. At big sky,
we continue to offer a discount to arts and social organizations
we wish to support. It's our way of giving something
back to the people who give so much to our community
and allows them access to professional design and communication
services they otherwise might not be able to afford.
It
wasn't long till word of our design and project management
skills spread to the corporate sector and we began long-standing
relationships with corporate clients including Fleming College, Shimano
Canada Ltd., the Ministry of Natural Resources, Animal
Wellness Magazine and QLine Solutions, among
others. As our success, and that of our clients', continued
to grow, we moved into a larger studio around the corner from
our original home on Hunter Street. Since 1999 we have
been located in the large, airy studio on George Street
that was home to internationally renowned Peterborough artist David Bierk.
The open, inviting environment reflects the attitude
we have taken since day one. At big sky,
the sky's the limit creatively while we still keep an
eye focused on your bottom line. |
